Im new to Audi world', Ive always liked them. I use to have a few 240SX cars I didnt have luck with.. Now im looking into buying a 01 A4 1.8T Quattro 5Spd with 49,***ish Miles . Ive read some of the FAQ stuff and it has good things in there. I have a general question though. Can someone tell me what to check out when Im looking at the car? Will the timing belt sound like its going to fail or is that just something that just breaks?

NO,you cant hear it, audi reccomends changing belt around 80k miles, your best bet is to take the car to an audi dealership. They will do a full inspection for the car, I think it runs you about 80 bucks, but well worth it in my opinion.

How long does the Turbo usually last before it starts to have alot of play?

 

The turbo will way outlast the urge to replace it with a bigger turbo. Likely you will replace it before you need to. If not, dont worry, they last a long time.

 

What are some numbers the 1.8 had reached? 300-400hp?

 

1.8 in an audi or in anything

there was some 1.8t in a belive a gti that was north of 800 whp
