Default AUDI 2.7T oil consumption issues

my a6 2.7t is eating a lot of oil. i have to add about half a quart of oil every 4-5 weeks. i have fixed THE OIL LEAKS. NO MORE LEAKS FROM THE TRANSMISSION PROP SEAL OR CAM ADJUSTER SEAL, OIL PAN VALVE COVERS. but it keeps consuming the oil.

Is this normal? the car is an 02. automatic hitting 67000 miles. NO mods. also if someone can recommend what oil type i should use that wold be great. i am using fully synthetic 5-40 from valvoline. I live in texas so the climate is always warm or hot. what would be the best oil? I got these leaks fixed at 63000.

thanks fellow audi owners!

You need to find out if it is burning off or leaking. Pull the belly plan, clean it, and replace it. Then check to see if that tells you where the leak may be. Check the exhaust pipes for carbon build up, a sign of burned oil. I have 188k on mine and it does not use any oil between changes (every 7-8k).

Check the intake, Y-pipe and bi-pipe to the intercoolers, and the DVs. If your PCV system is clogged up that is where you will find oil. A little bit is normal but excessive is not.

Good luck. Let us know what you find.

Sounds like its time for a spyder pipe (a glorified and way over priced PCV valve that is altogether WAY too difficult to replace for a normally replaced item). Start there as that is a normal replacement item.

But, also pull the hoses that go from the turbos into your intercoolers (easy to do once the belly pan is off). There should be a couple of tablespoons of oil. If there is a lot (meaning a cup or so), your turbos are gone.

Good luck,

Bob
