heater wont work - help?
hi
i have purchased a a6 1.8t (2000) last week and now having problems.
last weeke my temperature gauge went up quite quick to over 100 degrees. i stopped straight away and checked water etc.. everything seemed fine and started ok when i left the engine to cool. i have left the engine runnin for over 10 minutes and seems to stay at 90 degrees again now. but my heaters wont blow hot air now?? any help would be greatful
regards

Im guessing this is celcius? Im guessing your thermostat is stuck closed keeping coolant from circulating through your heater core. This also keeps the coolant from going through the radiator quickly overheating the engine. The water pump can also be at fault, but you will generally still get heat from the heater when the water pump is tired.

Well you can try to replace the thermostat first which is under the intake manifold. However if you are due for a timing belt change (every 80,000 miles) then it would be wise to purchase a kit online and replace everything all at once.
