Default 2000 a6 2.7

321,000 this week. Motor and chassis still very strong. Not sure if synthetic oil helps with Longevity but this car has always used it for the 300,000 miles I put on it. Castrol and Mobil One.

K miles is crazy but 10k is crazier! I do between 5-7 with Amsoil or Mobile 1 0-40. Especially with the direct injection engines that leave carbon build up and apparently have some sludge issues. I'm at 145k miles on my 05 3.2. Still runs like its new.. JMO. Thanks everyone and happy motoring. Viva Audi!
This!

Hello everyone, yes I'm new here. But I just wanted to chime in that car manufacturers want to look environmentally friendly so they do really stupid things like tell you to change the engine oil every 8-12k miles or so. DO NOT BELIEVE IT. It's simply a way for said manufacturer to make the car look like it has a smaller carbon footprint.

Change oil regularly based on how you drive it. Use synthetic oil if at all possible. I'd personally go no longer than about 6k between oil changes and that's with the majority of miles being on the highway.

2007 A6 2.7 with 143,000 miles. Runs and handles better than any large car I've ever owned. Only issue is oil leak. Had all the "normal" seals changed during the last water pump and timing belt service, but still leaks like a sieve. Taking it to another trusted mechanic who will find the leak later this month.

My 1999 A6 2.8 currently has 210,000 miles. I maintain it well. Someone last month ask me if I had gotten a new car!
My wife's 1995 A6 Wagon was sold in Nov 2012 to my mechanic at 295,000. He sold it to someone and they are still driving it.
Put my wife into a 2010 A6 Avant 3.0T prestige that a Mercedes dealer gave us a good price on.. It now has 67,000 and needs new tires -- still has the original Continentals.
And my mechanic made me an offer I couldn't refuse on a toy car: a 2001 2.0T TT Convertible 6-speed manual with 80,000 miles. Last owner blew out the timing belt at road speed and didn't want to pay to fix it. So my mechanic bought it and rebuilt the screwed up vales, etc.
My original Audi was a 1979 5000. I put almost 250,000 miles on it. (The odometer stopped at about 230,000, so I don't know exactly what it had when I retired it.)
So I'm a happy motorist with all my Audis. Dreaming of being able to afford a 2014 A7 -- or S7.
