Default Rotor replacement

Hi guys,

I think I may have worped the front rotors on my 2000 A6 2.7T, does anyone know where there is a DIY on how to change them? I can find the Audi world tech artical on pad replacement but it does not make any mention of rotor replacement.

Thanks
James

if it's anything like the 2.8L it's easy. On my 2.8l the rotor just comes off...no srews or bolts. May need a mallet or hammer to knock it off though....and maybe some PB Blaster too.

That's how it was on my 2.8L. I had to use a hammer and spray PB Blaster for the driver's side because it was rusted on the axle.

Many - many - many vehicles don't have things to hold the rotor on.

A few have a single little spring clip on the studs -but that usually gets thrown away the first time they are changed. Vehicles that use lug bolts instead of lug nuts sometimes have flat head screws to hold the rotor so the bolt holes stay lined up and they can be a witch to get unscrewed - but I haven't seen them on Audi's.

As madridlover says - the rotor sometimes get stuck on the hub and it takes a BUNCH of persuasion to get them off. Mallet - Hammer - sledge hammer - bad language - PB Blaster - are all part of the fun! Once you start -you have to keep going because the rotor can get a bit messed up if it sticks to hard.

Get the really big hammer and extra extra wide duct tape. The only special tool you might need is the one to twist the rear calipers as you push them in. It can be done with a clamp and channel locks but you have to be vary careful.
