i have the 4.2 and its excellent. i heard the w12 is amazing though.

So what did you eventually get? I picked up my used 2004 A8L up a month ago!! Love it!!

Depending on where you are I would go with the 4.2TDI. Insane amounts of torque. I wish we could get it here in the US.
