ha. you've done it, and didn't remember, I have no reason to do it, and its the first thing to come to mind.
Senior moment[&:].. besides take a look at my Mods list... It's hard to keep track after awhile without looking at the cheat sheet.

just run a cheater pipe along side it or for a few bucks you can get something that will cheat the sensor into thinking its fine

i dont think you would really gain any horsepower, but i would def sound nice
With a N/A motor you'd be closer to right, because a normally aspirated motor usually requires some kind of backpressure to generate torque.

However, a turbo motor should, ideally, run an open downpipe! The faster you can get the exhaust out of the pipe, the faster the turbo can spool harder. Actually, bmwtoaudi, find my post about an electronically-actuated exhaust diverter valve or cutout. I am installing one of these VERY soon; I can't wait! What I want is something that will go from stock sounding to NOT stock sounding at the push of a button, without changing the computer's readings of what's happening in the exhaust.

*EDIT* I forgot to mention... It's really going to add some grunt, too-- low, mid and high range.

Which brings me to point B: 02 sensor dummies. AchTTung's right again, you must locate a dummy to send a signal to the cats that everything is A-OK. If the reading is good all the time, the car will not be the wiser.

Check out my post for plenty of info on the subject... hope this helps! If I beat you to it, you had better believe I'm going to be posting some in-car footage (narrated by Leonard Nimoy ((or me, depending on who's available))) and out-of-car soundtrack.

I'll keep everyone posted....

Just on the Post-Cat sensor. The pre-cat sensor is responsible for engine management (i.e. air-fuel, etc.) the post-cat is there to check catalytic converter efficiency for emissions and is the one that benefits from the removal from the direct exhaust flow.

You can clear the CEL, but it will keep coming back unless you change the signal or modify the sensor location
