My shifter has about 1/2 inch play to the left when it is in first or second gear. The gear selection going slow is a bit notchy.... I think the clutch needs adjusted, but i called my local audi dealer and they said that the clutches are self adjusting? Is that true? If so what else can i do?

I just bought 3 quarts of mobil 1 gear oil and going to change it out soon... any other suggestions?

RE: Clutch adjustment
the shifter play has nothing to do with the clutch, but with the shifter linkage.
my car has this play in first and second too, its normal.

RE: Clutch adjustment
bleed the clutch, the fluid should be changed every 3 years.

RE: Clutch adjustment
learn to deal with it, when its cold things don't tend to work as well, metal shrinks and oil thickens, does it go away after the engine is warm and a few miles down the road?
