Losing boost in 2nd gear?

should that be happening? When I get to higher rpm in 2nd gear id say past 4k i lose boost. The car is completly stock. Any thoughts? its an 01 180q

Gimme some numbers...theK03s tends to spike then drop off towards higher RPMs. How bad are you losing boost? I.E. what's it dropping to?

you have to deal with load and the small turbo (cant hold boost very well). If you increase the boost you will have more psi throughout the powerband.

goes from 15ish to 5 if i go to redline

thats normal. chip and mbc will take care of that problem.

really? never seemed like it did it before unless i never paid attention to it. just seems like it shouldnt do that lol.... im a noob to turbos but how would an mbc fix it? isnt something like that computer controlled on our cars?

Once you get a chip and mbc, it will go from 22(lets say) to 15 that will be your new normal. I wish it would just hold 22 thru the whole powerband, that would be nice!

a mbc would allow the turbo to spool up faster by keeping the wastegate closed longer and then it will hold the boost longer by bleeding off the boost slower. Not computer controlled, just a simple controller you insert before the wastegate in the vacuum line.
