Is it just me or did I buy the poorest built TT? Or is there a special way people turn on their cars that I'm not aware of... maybe I was doing it all wrong. Hahaha... oh yeah, the glove box has been broken since the 3rd month of owning it... hahaha all this stuff makes me want to cry/laugh at the same time. *sigh*

On a tech related front, Isn't there supposed to be an Immobilizer? I just drove my car to work which is about 23 miles one way and a few laps around the neighborhood before that and the car didn't shut off. Plus, The airbag/horn assembly is installed but I still get the Airbag light on. Any Ideas? To turn on/off the car I just use a flat head screwdriver to unlock the steering wheel through the key part of the housing then again, screwdriver to the switch. I didn't think I could get away with that. Any thoughts?

Immoblizer is different from year to year, but none the less you can fool it on the older models like yours by just removing the electrical part of the switch and using a screwdriver to start the car. On newer cars there is a unit built into the key cylinder which must have authorization before power can be supplied to the starter. You may be able to start the engine, but the ECM would turn off the car in less than a second.

As for your airbag light, you have to fully bolt the airbag onto the spiral clock spring to ground the circuit. In other words, it has to be completely put together.

I'm going to try and tackle the Ignition Switch Housing this weekend. See if I can cold weld the small metal piece back where it belongs. Hopefully it goes in the way it was supposed to... and everything lines up. It's a last ditch effort of salvaging this part since I don't really want to tackle the removal/install of the housing if I don't have to.

wish me luck.

I'd almost suggest trying to solder it if possible, I don't see an epoxy bond holding well on a small part with side loads like that sees.

BTW, to make you feel better, I think I need to take my valve cover off, see if its all sludged up in there, because my lifters are getting loud, I have a BAD harmonic vibration coming from the front end, that even my ex-audi tech supervisor can't figure out, my haldex clutch is assumed 'smoked', my leak detection pump is bad, I have a large evap leak somewhere, pass side door switch doesn't drop the window when you open it, my airbag light is on w/o a code, and my fuel senders don't send, it reads empty all the time.

Wanna trade problems? : )

Well, the JB Weld didn't work. Let the thing set overnight but 1st time I turn the ignition, snap! Needless to say, I ordered the ignition housing. I should have her back up and running by this weekend, shipping permits.

BTW, I think I put everything back together except the bottom steering column trim/cover but my Air Bag light stays on. Do I need to reset something or is there something somewhere I'm missing?

And, no thanks matt, the way construction's slowing down, I might be out of a job soon and wouldn't be able to able to fix any of those!
