from the post on the tcaron fmic, where we went on a tangent, i was sold on the t3super60trim or just the base model.

i went on vortex and a lot of people were havin probs with their SW. so i was a lil turned off... but i do thing that GT28RS and T3S60 are going to be great turbos for circuit, especiallycoming out of the turns where the rpms are a lil lower,

me and my friend are going back to the shop tomorrow and checkign out the progress on removal of the 1.8T i mentioned, aparently the stand alone is running on no OEM sensors, i found that a lil odd but thats what i got to go by (word of mouth is not the most reliable) .. is this common or some wierd decision by the prev owner?

well its a engine out of one car into another and its going to do the same again so that is kind of expected. But a standalone (sem) for a car with its orginal engine can use its stock sensors, well most of them

ok good to know, as far as i understand the motor has the AWP harness, not sure about cluster tho, i think its wired to be plug and play with mk2 jetta cluster, or at least will be wired into adapter, we have to take a look at it again.

im not sure what cluster he is running in the mk2 golf. but, we were discussing (very heatedly) this very issue withthe stand alone.

**i wonder if i get the info ont he stand alone, if i can begin to wire it into the sensors** do you think it will have an adverse affect on it? porbably has to be retuned?

ok so the stand alone got sold ! .. and the guy is telling us that we can have any choice of stand alone (within the price range of the old one). odly enough, i go to take a look at the motor, and the wiring harness originally on it now has been pretty much ripped right off.

another odd bit is: the piece where the engine code is supposed to be inscribed has been grinded down... there is no reason as to why nor explanation given other than... thats how it comes. at least the motor has not been ripped out of the golf, but still .. seems a little shady, i could be wrong. the only 2 sensors that we got a chance to see are 2 o2 sensors and they are right before the cat on the DP. other than that, it doesnt appear that there is anything else that was wired into the old stand alone.

So what stand alone are they going with now?

For anyone that cares, if you plan on putting a sem on your TT, you will need to swap your DBW TB to a DBC setup and replace the TB and gas peddel. Forgot to mention that before

we are looking into what unit would be easiest to work with and what we could tune as well for the same price as the old unit. i tlake to the guys who have the motor, and im getting some wierd vibes off them. i told my friend, he only gave them $500 deposit and i draftd a contract for them to sign so if he needs me to go to bat for him i can do that but, he is gonna tell us the budget for the SEM and from there we will make a decision.

all else considered, on tuesday .. cuz monday is thanksgiving here we are goin to the shop for the info, he going to put 2k down but i advised him to review the deal b4 proceeding further.

what other markings/give aways can i use to determine what block we are working with.

maybe i can look at the ign. coils and see what tyoe they have,.,.. ill try to sneak in a few cell phone picks when they not looking, for some reason they were against that?? [>:]

so if i can get some ideas on idng the block without the standard marking that was grinded off, that would be great.

All the blocks will be the same, the oil pans are differnt from transverse to longitude. But you wont be able to identify the head w/o the tab. You will have to just figure out if its a vvt or not my the cam tensioner. That will be the only differnce in the heads (assuming its not a AEB big port head)

no because its cost to much and with gt turbo tech, the need for them is no longer there.
