Default rear wheel bearings?

Well my rear wheel bearings are going bad. I heard that they would cost about $300-$350 per wheel. Is this true? Also how easy would they be to replace myslef and how much would the cost be if I did it myself?

If you replace the entire hub, its nearly just one step past doing a brake job.
