1.8t quattro losing boost in high gears
Hi so im getting really fed upp with my turbo problems and I really want to get them fixed now since i have had this problem for like a year now...
So i have a a4 1.8t quattro 1999 with the apu engine with a chip to 200hp and it goes really good and pulls hard in 1,2 and 3 gear and sometimes in 4 and 5 but i need to be really careful or it will fall on its face as I lose all boost :/
I can hear the dump let out all the preasure and its only in 4 and 5 gear when im on the highway, it is also more prone to happend when im on a hill, its like there is to much stress being put on the engine.
I have wondered if it might be the internal wastegate being worn out and not being able to hold the boost in and letting it out maybe.
Is it time for a turbo replacement?
