2.8 quattro clutch problems

I have a 1999 A4 2.8Q manual, recently there seems to be too much play in the clutch pedal when starting from cold but when the car warms up the pedal becomes firm again. what could this be?

did you check the hydraulic fluid? My clutch was soft until I filled up the hydraulic fluid, then it was fine again

the brake fluid resevoir is also the clutch fluid resevoir. when is the last time you did a brake fluid flush?

The fluid level is ok, i remember changing it 15000 miles ago.

did you also bleed the clutch after you bled the brakes?
