4.5lbs of boost 1st-5th gear???
Hello all,
I purchased my first Audi a couple months ago and have slowly been repairing/upgrading random parts on it. I always thought I had boost problems as it seem a bit slow even for stock. Long story short, finally installed a VDO boost gauge and I'm only getting about 4.5lbs of boost in 1st through 5th gear ( no spikes or nothing lower ) but starts to drop off around 5000 rpm which I know is normal.
I have replaced the vacuum lines going from the FPR to Intake Manifold and the line going from top of diverter valve to intake manifold (this is the line I used to T connector to the boost gauge from) I check other lines underneathe the intake manifold going to the airbox for corrosion with no success.
Any help appreciated, thanks!
Oh yeah, car is a 1997 a4 1.8t manual (140,000k)

You might want to use a proper way to find a boost leak, check out chocalotstarfish's DIY:

Okay so I think I will proceed with the Tennis ball leakdown test method but will have to wait until later this week to get ahold of an air compressor.
I tightened all vacuum hoses I could find but did notice that the wastegate hose didn't have a clamp on it at all although it feels pretty tight on the nipple connection.
Could not having a clamp or zip tie on the wastegate hose coming off the wastegate cause a leak or is it nothing to worry about?
Thanks,
