TB broke and I have to replace some valves... I used to be able to turn the crank with a ratchet by hand, but now it's stuck solid. The battery also died before the problem started.

Has anybody ever seen this before? Does it have to do with the battery dying?

nothing to do with battery. most likely the valves are very bent and have bound the crank by stopping the motion of the pistons. i want pics of the carnage when its pulled apart

Why exactly would you turn it knowing you have bent valves?

 

Timing belt only jumped a few teeth, reset the timing with a new belt to see if they were indeed bent. I agree that it probably is bent valves jamming the motion. Will have the time to fix it in about a month.
