By fancy I mean using tools I don't possess. He's going to vacuum my cooling lines and test for hydrocarbons as well as give a second opinion on my oil

So the tech said the radiator is the place to start, its like 20 degree difference on one side of the rad. And the bottom hose was cool

So I was preparing my car for new rad. When I noticed the water pump/power steering belt was trashed, just put a new one on and am letting the mass amounts of air out of the system .....

I think air is sneaking into the cooling system, not sure if it is internal or not. Probably going to get some coolant sealing solution an try that next

rear coolant plug on the block could be at fault. Also, you have to fill the new radiator up and burp the system properly of its completely empty or you'll get big air bubbles

ok so I put a new radiator on for $90 looks a lot better than my old one but while I was in there i found that the impeller on my water pump was slipping on the shaft. 90% sure thats the problem. didn't bother testing rad. also passed the block test.

I had the same problem, I took the water pump out (which is a very long job) and say the impeller was broken in 2. Replace it and it's working great now, this sound exactly like my problem.
