Questions and adivce needed.
I'm looking to tune up my car and do some preventative maitenance. I work at a benz dealership so i have access to a shop. I'm a noob when it comes to working on cars so I'm working with a tech so I can learn. So far I want to tackle the fuel filter and tranny flush. Oil was just changed and plugs are new. I'm thinking about a cone filter also but where is the best place to get one with all the neccesary parts(adaptars and such). Anyone know of anything else that is possible for me to try and learn. I learn pretty easily and I can usually figure things out I've never had the chance to really work on cars.
Fuel filter is easy. Also most this stuff has a how to you can follow and shouldnt have a problem installing. If you want a cone filter, check out The BPi stack here. http://www.bpinitiatives.com/products.php
It comes complete but you will need a 3" to 2.75" reducer for the maf. Since you have a 97, you dont have to worry about an sai.

how many miles are on your car?...i am guessing you have over 100k
right about this time our cars do need alot of love/re-vamping....I would have the mercedes tech inspect the car
here are some things he should be looking for;
oil leaks
rear diff seals
oil cooler
motor mounts
control arms
when was the last time your timming belt was changed?...it should be done every 80k...if you don't have documentation that it was done, get it done asap!
you could severely damage your motor if your timming belt breaks
when you do timming belt you should also do water pump and tensioner at the same time
while you have the front end open alot of people like to add a snub mount as well
when was the last time your brakes were bled?
rear diff. service?
central diff service?
how are your brake pads and rotors?
most people do a custom cone filter and heatshield, theres a guy on the zine who makes really nice heat shields, I run a K&N cone clamped directly to the maf
there are alot of people who just do the airbox mod (check the diy section)
I just noticed that you don't have a DV in your sig....you should look into a forge/hyperboost/baileys or 71on dv
I am shure I am forgetting a few things, well, that's a start

Yea, I'm about to roll over to 130k. TB was done at 90k. Good call on the brake bleed I do need to do that, any specific kind of fluid I should be getting cause the clutch runs off of the same stuff right? Oh, I do have a DV its a forge. Brake pads and rotors are ok, new tires are going on this weekend and a Cv boot next week. I need a steering rack but I'm not doing that. I'm gonna look into the snub mount sometime in the future. I want to start adding some performance stuff but also want it running good and everything before the extra power. I did notice a very small coolant leak that I need to look into. Also should I flush the stuff thats in there and put the audi stuff in? Or just continue putting whats in there? How hard are the diff seals to do and prices, and same for oil cooler? Thanks guys for the info I wanna hang onto this car for a bit

the DIY section here and on audizine, and then there are a couple others out there that are smaller
