Default Squeak Squeak Help Help

So I took a 800 mile road trip yesterday to get my boy from college, all is well with the car except when I was coming down the mountain, speeds moderately high, I started to notice a squeaking noise coming from the front right of the car. When I got to his school, anytime you push down on the car, turn the wheel, or hit bumps, it squeaks. When i looked underneath the car the only thing different on the right side from the left is that the boot that covers the ball and socket joint thingie near the top of the wheel wellhas been ripped and is now seperated from the end but its the part near the top with the flexi-boot covering it. Could this be it, and the joint is just dirty, or more serious problems probably lurking undernaeath? thanks

that's your control arm and with the boot ripped, you'll need to replace it. you see the huge bolt that goes across the 2 controls that are above the wheel? that's called the pinch bolt AKA the shittiest designed bolt ever. you might have a hard time getting that SOB out. check your other control arms too but grabbing them and wiggling, if they feel rly loose, you should replace all of them since you got the pinch bolt apart anyways. ebay controls arm the cheapest you'll find and i've have mine for a year and they are great.

if it's squeaking again, just get a grease gun, high temp grease and a grease gun needle. put the needle on the gun and the grease in it and put a little bit of grease into each boot. don't pump too much in because the boot will explode

Sorry to thread jack, but I have a similar problem that may be a common one. I have the squeaking coming from the front drivers side, it only starts up at about 35-40 mph. At first I thought it was the wheel bearing but after changing it out, it still happens...so I change outthe front brakes...still squeaking...

it was definetely coming from the exposed joint that was previously covered by the boot, I cleaned her out at applied high temp grease right after i posted and that has almost entirely made the noise go away, either case will have to find a way to re-attach the boot or completely replace in the near future.
