If you plan on using it often might as well buy a Ross-tech cable and software. Plus the Ross-tech will hold its value if you end up having to sell it later.

 

The cable from ebay will work with the shareware version of the software, and it looks like they are including a cd with a copy of the software on it.

However, I have to agree with Mike, that to get the full potential out of the cable you should go genuine Ross-Tech. More functionality and has good resale value. If funds are an issue, and with a lot of us they are, the cheapie cable is better than nothing.
