Might just be for avants. I have a button just like that on my driver's door that pops the hatch.

 

Should be for Avant, but he said "trunk" not hatch. lol

 

update: the vacuum lines were hidden by my subs that are still the car. i think that it is the mechanism is what is broken.

 

so i found out what was wrong with the trunk.
the pin fell out of this

replaced it with a pin:

still need to know what these wires connect to...

the three wires split off of the wires that are connected to the license plate light bulbs

 

Those wires are most likly for a cd changed for the back deck all audi's are pre wired

 

they connect to the locking mechanism of the trunk.....

 

NEW PROBLEM WITH THIS DAMN TRUNK..... so now my trunk will open itself while driving down the interstate, the lcd screen starts blinking at me and i pull over and have to close the trunk only about 40 minutes later to have to do the same thing. also i can stick my key into the locking mechanism of the trunk and spin the key in circles both counter and clockwise. but it will still lock and unclock the trunk by spinning the key. i have no idea what is going on with the trunk. if you look at the pictures above there were some wires that were broken? i had them wired back up and they did nothing. but they also broke again. so any ideas?
