Default Vag-Com not working help.

I just got my Vag-Com cable yesterday and downloaded the software and everything and when i go to do a scan or anything it just pops up saying Vag-com has stopped working and shuts it down. Anyone know whats going on and how i can fix this??

Post a screenshot, I work in desktop support and the exact error message helps tremendously in finding what the issue is. Also, make sure your cable shows up as a Serial Port under Device Manager. Furthermore, it is helpful to know what version of Vag-Com you are running, where you purchased your cable (some sellers include troubleshooting) and most importantly, what operating system is on your computer.

Exactly when does it error out? When you are scanning for codes or as soon as you open vagcom? Also under options where you able to test the interface ok?

That's a Windows Vista error message and not a Vag-Com error. You are probably running the program as a regular user. Where did you install to? The C:\Vag-Com or the C:\Program Files\Vag-Com path? Right click on the shortcut and go to properties, make sure under the compability tab to run the program in Windows XP SP2 or SP3 compability and check the box to run as Administrator. Also, there should be an advanced button somewhere on the first or second tab and make sure run as administrator is checked.

To do a screen print press the "Print Screen" button on your keyboard, then click on start, type "mspaint" and when Paint opens up click on Edit Paste and then save.
