Replaced the license plate lights and nothing happened... time to look further.

Just curious, why'd you choose the AEM?

cause a member on az was selling it cheap.... also was recommended by a few other members

Dealt with this a couple months ago. My left side bulb wouldn't light. Turned out on the backside of the bulb housing one of the tabs had rotted away and the corrosion spread into the wire harness plugged into it, breaking one of the wires. If you pull the trunklid liner off and unbolt the latch assembly, you'll be able to unplug the bulb harnesses and unbolt the body-color bulb rack that holds the housings on the trunk. Once that's off you can remove the bulb housings from the backside of the rack if necessary. Whatever caused the issue, it'll be pretty apparent once you get in there. It's pretty much always related to corrosion one way or another.

I pulled it into the garage last night out of the rain and wind so I could work on it today... I have about 6 inches behind the car, and 12 in front. Small *** garage FTL

Ha, having 5 years of B5 ownership and with my car currently at 209k miles, not to mention all the Audi work we do up here, we've dealt with a LOT of stuff going wrong. The parade through the garage has included B5 and B6 A4s of all engine and drivetrain setups and levels of modification, B5 S4s from stock to stage 3, TTs, A6s, A8s, you name it. That many varied cars means a lot of issues will be discovered and dealt with

Oh and you can always jump the wires from one bulb to the other if need be - the current draw is low and it can handle it easily.

^ neither came on... going to investigate in a bit. The wife is taking an online college exam, almost out of time, and the dog is starting to act up. So, gotta keep him occupied for the time being.
