Drivers side window won't go up easily struggles abt. halfway stops and comes back down is this normal and whats the fix.

Also putting in control arms the other day noticed the lower coil end of each strut spring broke off and just bouncing around down there, Is this normal and is it OK to leave like this for a while.

 

Window regulator. a search should reveal quite a bit of information

broken springs are never normal and should be repaired as soon as possible

i know that this is the B5 A4 section but specifics on your particular model are useful when answering questions

I agree with Beau. It seems like the B5 A4 suffers from broken bottom rear coils a lot - mine broke, as did the coils on every B5 I've ever done suspension work on. I haven't seen broken S4 coils, which doesn't surprise me, given how beefy they are.
