Default Help...considering buying first B6!

Hello all,
I'm new to audi's... love the 2002-2008 A4 4cyl turbos.
I have my eyes set on this blue 2002 A4 1.8 automatic below.
It has 59K and asking price is $12k.

I'm not new to cars (founder/editor of FordMuscle.com), nor to turbos (have a Volvo V70 T5). But I am a complete newbie to Audi's.
I'd appreciate your advice on what to look for when buying a used B6 A4. I'm looking at cars under 70k mileage... what problems might I look for?

I'd prefer a manual 5 or 6 speed, but love that blue/gray combo and so far only two that have popped up in my are are auto's. I plan to APR chip the car...any disadvantage to auto or manual when it comes to chipping?

Thanks folks!

I recently purchased a 2002 A4 1.8 and I love driving it

I am in the automotive field (parts) and I sell a lot of ignition coils (which are not expensive), control arms, and drive axles. Besides that the car is very well built and very fun to drive.

My only complaint is the radio, I have the Symphony Bose system and I get horrible radio reception, I researched the problem on this forum and it seems common.

Whats up fellow Stanger? I've seen you posting over on corral, you had the emereld green hatch right? Same as mine.

Anyway, I'd highly suggest holding off for a 5 or 6spd car. The main things to look for is if the previous owner has done the maintenance. These cars need synthetic oil changes with the large filter (m1-301 filter, same as 5.0's use) every 3-5k miles. Also plan to have the timing belt/waterp ump service done around 75-90k miles. I just had mine done and i'm at 83k.

They are really fun cars to drive and make great daily drivers, especially having the quattro. They handle awesome.

im going to be honest with you...... i love my audi a lot but after all the problems i have had with mine i would suggest that you look into warranty's, cuz thats what i did and im happy now because most of everything that goes wrong with my car is covered. also i wanted to ask you if the car is a quattro, because if it is thats a plus, they do handle real well and are save cars.

i got a warranty from us fidelis. its 5 years 100000 miles its covers a lot of things that i would not even think of. my deductible is zero bucks and i pay 66 a month and it cost 1900. so far im am really happy with it. they also give you a free rent a car too.

Hey man,
I actually have a 67 Mustang, 331 stroked, EFI, etc. I use to have a 93 Cobra (stolen) and a 88 hatch (sold). Also sold my 01 GT.
The 92 Green hatch belonged to Jim Langley, a good friend of mine and used to be involved with FordMuscle.

Anyway, good info on the A4's. I will hold out for a manual - really miss shifting my own gears. Still torn on B6 or B7. Guess it will come down to $$ I have to spend, and mileage. I dont want to throw down $15K on a 50,000 mile B6 and then a year later spend $1500 on timing and other maintenance.

cheers
