ESP Light Won't Turn Off
Hey Everyone,
It's been awhile since I have been on the forums and it's good to be back. This question is actually concerning my dad's 2005.5 A4 2.0TQ Auto. He just put a brand new set of 235/45 ZR17 tires on the car today and all of the sudden, the ESP light came on and he can't shut it off. I searched on the forums before I posted, did not come up with much. I was hoping that someone has had experience with this before and could offer some help. Thanks in advance for your help.

Hello Audi Tek,
Thank you for your quick response, I really appreciate it. I know that all of the tires are identical (Brand, Speed & Load ratings) but I am not sure if the light came on when he started the car or after he had been driving for awhile. He just told me that he could not turn it off using the button on the dash. Would these 2 conditions lead to a different diagnosis of the problem? Thanks again for your help.

Hello Everyone,
*Update* I spoke with my dad this afternoon and he told me that the ESP light came on, on it's own while he was driving and not right when he started the car. I am hoping that this information might help in diagnosing the problem. Thank you all for your help in advance.

Hello Audi Tek,
Thanks for your help, it is greatly appreciated. If it were a faulty brake light switch, would any of the brake lights be out as a result? What would be your diagnosis if the ESP light had come on upon start up? I only ask because my dad seemed a little unsure if the light came on while he was already driving or if it had turned on when he started the car.
Thanks Again,

hey guys. i have had the same issue for the past few days with my 2003 a4 1.8t
maybe you already did (or maybe they changed it now), but i read the car manual about the esp light. it says that if the light does not stop illuminating after starting your car, then there's probably a fault with the esp, or even with other brake related functions (such as the ABS) since all of these work together. in case the light comes up while you're driving, it means that for some reason the system deactivated esp, and you can turn it back on if you stop and restart your car.
hope this helps in some way
