New to Audi, have a few questions about the B8 A4
Hey everyone,
I've been looking at Audi's for a bit and was looking at the B8 A4. Aside from the possible oil burning issues that plagued the 2009-2011 models, is there anything else I need to be aware of?
How is the rust protection/prevention on these cars? I've been hearing some horror stories from owners primarily of the B7 line and some early B8 years. I can tolerate the mechanical repairs and maintenance, but rust is a huge pet peeve of mine. Mercedes-Benz made rust buckets from the late 90s to early 2000s and was wondering if Audi had a similar rust problem time period.
Thanks in advance!

I guess one of the initial questions we would ask is what year car is in your budget window. The newer the better and the lower the mileage the better. My kid is on the 3rd one . A 2007 , 2009 and now a 2015. None of them had any rust and we live in the northeast with snow and salt. They all burn oil to some degree even if/after they have had ring replacement. Our experience has been they all were very reliable and in our case have never been to a dealer for any repairs. I change oil every 5K miles and only did brakes on the 2007. The 09 was a CPO car and had new brakes when purchased and when sold we put 40K miles on it and they were still good. So once again how much can you spend. $30K will get you a lot of great deals.

That's good to know about the rust situation. I'd imagine that salt+snow would expedite any rust. I don't live in a snowy climate, so it would be safe to assume that rust issues on the B8 is pretty nonexistent?
Thanks for the info!
