1999 a4 2.8 quattro fuel and start problem , Help!!
I have a4 1999 2.8l quattro . When I sstart my car in the morning in runs fine a cranks up no problem, but if I stop and go in somewhere the car will just crank but will not turnover, if I wait about 45-1hour it will start up fine. I figure something electrical is getting hot, my car has 70k on it, anyone experienced this problem, your help would be really appreciated, thanks ty

To be honest both of you need to go to an audi dealer and have the cars put on to diagnostics this is the only way that you will find the fault there both diffren't engines so it might be diffrent for each car. A similer problem that I have seen on other cars is the one way valve failing on the fuel pumps which will allow the car to start up instanly from cold but once heated up to operating temp and the engine is switched off because the one way valve has failed it allows all the petrol in the fuel lines to fall back into the tank meanig that when you start cranking the egine it has to fill up the fuel lines and filter first before it can deliver into the engine. An easy way to test this is to heat the car up so it has the problem switch it of and then disconect the fuel line there should be a constant pressure held here even with the engine switch off, you could also try cranking the engine while the fuel line is disconected to see if your geting any fuel.
I think that the audi 80 distrinbuter modal can brake down so you proberly want to find out if you have a spark if you have the fuel.
