Can anyone confirm this noise? 2002 A4 148k Tiptronic, original turbo 7.5 psi @ 3k rpm.

How's your oil pressure?

 

Not sure on the oil pressure. I did replace the DV and the noise is gone and the Boost peaks at 10 psi then drops to 8.5 and holds. Is this normal? The car does accelerate better now though.

 

Yes it's supposed to drop of 1-3.5 psi just to save your internals. If too much boost gets added constantly, the pistons and other internals couldn't handle it. That's your wastegate blowing if a little of the excess. Totally normal.
