strange transmission problem
OK I just got an A4 from a dealer and I believe I have a non-specific issue. First, here is the info on the car:
2001 A4 18TQ, 5spd, ~105k mi
Here's the problem: when the engine is cold, I have trouble shifting into second (and only second). There is a lot of pressure that prevents a smooth shift. If I try a few more times, I can get the shifter down to second and it will engage no problem. After about 15 minutes of driving it goes away for the most part, but there is still more pressure than any of the other gears. The car had a new clutch and flywheel put in about 10k miles ago (at least that's what they told me.. a used car dealership would never lie would they?). Any ideas? I still have a 3mo/3000mi powertrain warranty so I'd like to sort this out while it's on someone else's dollar.. but I worry if a mechanic will be able to find the problem.

RE: strange transmission problem
its the synchro, soo many people here have the second gear issues on cold mornings. alot of guys put in gm synchromesh or similar to remedy this. otherwise you can jsut drive slowly until the tranny warms up a bit to allow smoother shifting.
