Default Boost Gauge Install - Electrical Problem

Wired up my boost gauge tonight. Pretty straight forward, so I thought. I connected the white wire to the blue/gray via a wire tape. Then I connected the ground to a brown ground wire on the left side right below the fuse panel via the other wire tap. Turned the key on and nothing. So I took the ground wire used for the gauge ground off the post. As soon as I did that, the gauge lights up. I put it back on and it went out. So I cut the gauge ground from the tap, put a ring termal and connected it to the post described on AWE's web site. Still didn't come on. I give up.

Any ideas as to what is going on?? TIA.

do you have a test probe so you can verify the polarity of power on the wires your tapping?and as far as the ground just use a ring terminal and a self tapping screw and screw it to any metal so it has a true gound to the chassis.
