ok so i just purchased a 2008 audi a4 2.0t. i love it but something weird is happening and i need some advice. after i shut the engine off for about 2 minutes then i go to turn it on and it hesitates to start and all i hear is clicking and then the it starts, but the clock resets itself to default time, im thinking the battery needs to be replaced but some feedback would be greatly appreciated so i can nip this problem in the bud so i can enjoy the full extent of my new car.

 

Hey - congrats on the car. Just got my first last week & loving it.

I'm no mechanic, but if I had that issue with any car here's what I'd do -

Check the contacts on your battery for corrosion. Sounds like the connection is not solid since it eventually does start. Try cleaning and tightening the connection and terminals on the battery.

If that isn't it, It could be a fulty connection somewhere else. Not sure if it would be a bad battery since it's still working (when it does start, does it crank with full power?). Other thing it could be is the starter going out. Not sure where that is on an Audi, but on other cars I've been able to easily remove it and bring it in to be tested at an auto parts shop like NAPA, O'Riley, Action, etc...

I'm sure someone else can give you a better answer, but maybe you'll luck out and it will be the connection.
