I agree, but if you caught someone climbing through your window, you point a gun at him and tell him to freeze/stop and he stills comes at you, I'd consider that as a threat to me and anyone in the household, therefor will fire at him.
Murder, mayhem, rape, and robbery are examples of forcible and life-threatening crimes.

You may want to brush up on the statutes involving self-defense. You have to meet the threat with like force.
Some fat guy tumbling backwards thru your window after you told him to stop - then you put a few rounds in his head as he lies on the floor. It's not going to work out well for you. It's all in the details though. The same fat guy comes in thru the window and whips out a gun - then fire away. If you are thinking "I don't want to wait until he has time to verbally threaten me or pull out a weapon", then you have to consider that you are taking your chances. If you can run(which you usually can), then that is always the best option.

If I tell the intruder to stop and that person still tries to come in I will defend myself by shooting him...self defense..depends on the what state you live in I guess

You can give your roommate some valuable legal advice now that might save him a lot of trouble later - You can't shoot someone for breaking into your house. It's not an overly complicated legal principle. Each situation has it's own circumstances, but as a general rule, don't fire on people coming in a window.

My room mate however, has a permit for his Sig P226...always loaded, just waiting for someone to break in to the house

That says all I need to see right there. Shoot his ***. I am tired of paying for people to sit in jail. I am sure there will be different opinions on that statement, but if we all agreed on everything this would be a boring place

See thats why australia is safer... We are of the attitude F**K it, the guy went to all that effort of breaking thorugh the window when the door was unlocked anyway he might as well have that tv because it means that i get a new one in a few days any way. jokes on the guy the tv was on its way out. HAHA no need to shoot him. man's just trying to make a living! haha
i have a few 20 guage shot guns in my room. not mine just letting a friend keep them here becuase they are illegal in the dorms. he is currently trying to get his dad to get him some of those bean bag rounds. if i get some i wont have to kill any one braking in to my house i would just pop them a few times in teh back or what not. they wont get far. i wont go to jail for killing someone and he will have one hell of a head ache in the morning.
A nice, tight double tap to teh heart...
P.O.: "OK, Sir, what happened here?"
You: "He ATTACKED me, Officer. First, He came busting in through the window, notice all teh broken glass is on teh INSIDE of the room... I heard a noise and came to investigate. That's when I saw Him and politely asked if He'd be so kind as to LEAVE; depart the premises, immediately. He then RUSHED at me VIOLENTLY, with a MURDEROUS-RAGE IN HIS EYES, and, fearing for my very LIFE, I pulled out my Tina (that I happen to sleep with, in a holster, under my pajamas, luckily) and double-pumped His sorry *** STRAIGHT to HELL!!!. Then, I lit a cigarette and called you guys."
P.O.: "Thank You Sir, you've done a FINE service to the community. I wish there were MORE civic-minded citizens such as yourself. Have a Good evening, Sir, we'll clean this up for you.
You: "Thank you Officer Friendly, you have a nice evening, too!"
...Or sunthin like that...
Of course, you'll hafta figure out how to speak in CAPS, on your own, I can't help you with that part[8D]
