Default Knocking noise from front end of B6 A4

Ive done a bit of a search already but havent found anything conclusive.
Intermittently over bumps i'll get a sharp "metal-on-metal" sounding knock/clunk noise from the front end. Also hear a similar noise on sharp accel or decel, also intermittently. Usually only hear the noise over a washboard type surface, not big bumps or potholes.

Ive already had the car in the air and done a complete shake down only to find everything is tight as a drum(control arms, tie rods, ball joints, sway bar bushings/endlinks). Also took a dead blow hammer to the tires and different spots on the suspension to see if I could induce the noise...nothing. No clue where this is coming from.

Sounds like your suspension bolts are loose, they have to stay very tight because the control arm does not pivot during suspension articulation the bushing flex. Jack the car up and do a very good check of all the parts, tighten up all the bolts you can find and use green loc-tite on all the bolts. Also in the future you get more advice when you post in the model specific parts of the forum, fyi
