Buying a used A4
Hello Guys,
I'm in the market for a used car and I'm a big fan of Audis.. I'm planning to test drive a '98 A4 Auto 2.8 Quattro today. It has 92K miles on it. Is there anything specific that I need to check for in a '98 Audi.? Any other inputs welcome!!
Thanks in advance!!
Cheers.

The 2.8's are pretty reliable. With any audi there's a few things you need to check out.
Get a carfax. Always get a carfax.
The timing belt. Belt tensioner, idler pulley, and water pump. Get the maintenece record and make sure it's been done. It can cost up to $1000 to get it changed at a stealership. It can cost a whole lot more to replace the heads if the belt breaks.
Get the radio code. It's either in the trunk with the spare or on the drivers side door sill. If the battery is ever diconnected, you'll need the code to unlock the radio.
If you can, take it to a mechanic and get it checked out and scanned for any codes. Even if the check engine light is off, there's still may be something wrong.
