It's always cheaper to maintain these wonderful cars with the best *correct parts.. then they run forever especially each newer series engine. Take it to a real Audi indie engine shop and maybe you can get by with just a reworking the head/valves. Somethin smells funny about the price on that complete engine at that price..was it stolen

Your questions suggest that you don't know a lot about cars - If that is the case it would be better for you to start looking for a new vehicle instead of doing a motor or head swap.
i know plenty about cars, fords mainly and chevys, i have learned over the past year that these cars are very complex and i figured if someone has had a similer issues or experiances. that it is always better to doubble check what i have assumed or know (on a side note, i have been working on cars for 10 years i have been an ASE master mechanic for 2 of those years) thanks for your help!

In this situation, I would recommend having the engine looked at to see if a new/used head is the best solution. Generally, if everything else seems okay (such as the tranny), this would be the cheapest route. You might need to find a friendly shop to help with this. A knowledgeable independent shop should be able to take care of this for around $1500-2000. If you are a good mechanic, you could do it for half of that or a little less (general rule of thumb, car repairs are half parts, half labor). You could weigh the value of the car once it is repaired, cost of replacement of the car and complete engine replacement in your decision.
