So I've been thinkin about this for a coupla days now. I held off ordering a new expansion tank and reservoir, and was thinking about taking my so far un-named car over to Jiffy Lube and having them do a coolant system flush and refill it with regular propylene glycol coolant instead of G12. I figure they'd be able to do a much better job flushing all the crap out with their little machine than I'd be able to do with buckets and gallon jugs of distilled water. (No hose at my apartment complex) Still planning on replacing the expansion tank, though. And from what I've read and from what you guys have told me, using green coolant is OK as long as the entire system is flushed first. What do you guys think?

I think Jiffy Lube will do an okay job as long as you watch them do it. My suggestion is to stick with G12. Yeah, it costs more than the green stuff but you don't have to fill it up all that often (unless you have a leak somewhere).

And BTW Chris, my buddy with a B6 said he's gonna hook me up with his old badge so I'm gonna wait for him to find it. Thanks anyway bro!

No worries man, I'm gonna hang onto it anyway so if your buddy can't find his just lemme know. Its not the price of the G12 I'm worried about, just makin sure all the gunk is cleaned outta the cooling system. I asked them if they could flush it and then refill it with G12 if I bring it for them, but the guy told me they aren't allowed to do that

in other news, I just discovered that SpeedTuning USA is HQ'd about 40 minutes from my apartment in MD, and RAI Motorsports in Baltimore is a Unitronic shop. Hmmm....

You won't be disappointed with speedtuning if you choose that. Unitronic is great too, but $500 is way steep for a k03 chip. GIAC, APR, and others are not priced that high anymore. I paid $500 for GIAC 5 years ago. Times have changed and so has pricing... Idk why Unitronic doesn't try to stay competitive with pricing. If someone wants to respond to that with something like "because unitronic is teh bestttt!!!" then please post up comparative dyno results. Maybe because it took them so long to finally come out with a k03 chip, they feel like they need to make up for lost time...?

Unitronics is definitely not the best lol. And their customer service and way of dealing with customers is WAY less than acceptable. That company is full of broken promises and very cheap all around. I would recomend them to NO ONE. Giac or APR for basic chips, and Eurodyne for BT tuning is the way to go on B5's.

Yeah... We have a member who is a vendor for uni and I've seen him make claims that nothing beats unitronic, etc. but thats it... No dyno comparisons, nothing. Ticks me off.

Yea Clint seems to be a pretty good guy, and you can't blame him for repping UNI products. But I've heard some horror stories about them and know from personal experience that they are basically full of **** and just want to squeeze every dime they can. I dont want to turn this into a hate thread, and they DO have alot of good products, but they need to learn how to treat people and be more truthful.

Got a big box from ECS today, boost gauge, and a new dip stick/dip stick tube. Also got muh new CEL stickah Working on the vent-mount now. Changing the dipstick tube was an epic pain in the ***. It was extremely brittle and broke into about 20 pieces, each one equally irritating in its own special way. I felt like a surgeon trying to keep all the little pieces from falling down the dip stick tube into the crank case, but was successful

I'm thinking SpeedTuning, personally.

Any other thoughts on the coolant thing? Also considered taking it to the stealership to have them flush it with G12, but I shudder to think what the price tag on that would be.
