......Unless you don't have the radio serial# written down somewhere (like most I suspect). In that case, trying the default code is worth a shot, it takes all of about 15 seconds and is much easier than pulling the head. Just be sure you don't make too many failed attempts, on some models it will trash the unit!

The OP (Power Moves) wrote;

"You will need:

VIN# and

Radio Serial#

If you are already in possession of the radio serial number (if not you have to pull the head unit, it should be located on the side or top of the unit)"

This is a helpful post (Thank you Power Moves) that I was merely trying to add to. People will come across this post in the future, my hope was possibly to save them the need to pull the unit or pay the stealership.

Obviously this will not work on ALL units, in fact, it might not work on MOST units, it WILL work on SOME units which was the point of my post. If it (the default code) doesn't work, then using the method suggested by the OP is obviously worth a try also. My apologies to everyone for not being clear enough for everyone to understand.

Hey guys that's great news! I will try the 1111 first then if that fails I will call the number provided and give my info.

But please tell - what do you press on radio prior to entering the code?

The method to enter the code can vary depending on the radio unit installed on the vehicle. If you have the Operating Instructions for the Sound System stored with the Owner's Manual, it will tell you the procedure.

Some units require the FM1/2 and DX buttons be pressed simultaneously with the unit on and displaying the 'SAFE' wording. If this works for your unit it should then display '1000' on the radio. Use the station buttons 1 - 4 to move the display to the proper code that matches your vehicle. Once you have completed entering the code, press the FM1/2 and DX buttons again simultaneously until the 'SAFE' wording appears again. After that, the unit should play normally.

Found the code in my trunk's tire well. There is an info card attached and the code was in upper left corner.

I have bought 2 used Audi's, both of the previous owners wrote the code with a sharpie on the top of the radio when you pull it out...I thought that was kind of nice...so I started doing it....but the tire well/spare tire area is also a place to look...

The Link Posted above. I've been looking at this service for a while and cannot see how it works ? Is it free ? Is there something to download ? It either just seems to relish-direct me to the homepage or takes me to a paid service ?
