Default Who's buying an A4 B5?! THIS GUY!

Hey guys,
New to the forum, hope to make it home.

I'm going to look at a 2000 A4 B5 Saturday morning and wanted your opinion on what I should look out for / check / inquire about. In the meantime I'll be bookmarking some threads and searching the site

Here's what I know:

2000 A4 B5
Recently Replaced / Upgraded:

3" Exhaust
HKS Muffler
Brake Pads
Rotors
Precision Intercooler
Oil
Coil (?)
F1 Clutch
VVS blow off valve
CV Joints
CAI- HKS
Air filter - K&N
Ball Joints (?)
Bumper (replaced OEM)
Vacuums (for more boost? Can someone explain that?)
Boost Controller
Alternator

What worries me:
A/C "pulley started making a noise recently"
130k
Stock Turbo @15psi
Interior 8/10

Thoughts?

Here's what I know:

2000 A4 B5
Recently Replaced / Upgraded:

3" Exhaust
HKS Muffler
Brake Pads
Rotors
Precision Intercooler Overkill in my opinion, but good upgradability
Oil
Coil (?) probably just an ignition coil. no big deal
F1 Clutch this worries me. pretty sure its an ebay brand. look to replace eventually
VVS blow off valve not really proper for the enigne. might want to switch back to a diverter valve
CV Joints changed with good joints?
CAI- HKS
Air filter - K&N
Ball Joints (?) you can't replace just ball joints on these suspension setups. it was most likely control arm replacement
Bumper (replaced OEM)
Vacuums (for more boost? Can someone explain that?) i dont understand. maybe vacuum line
Boost Controller i'd need pictures and/or a better description
Alternator

What worries me:
A/C "pulley started making a noise recently" probably a bad clutch. will need servicing
130k no biggie. as long as the tbelt has been changed recently
Stock Turbo @15psi again, no biggie. dont expect the trubo to last antoher 100k, but it doesnt matter. youll be upgrading it soon
Interior 8/10

Thoughts?
price on it?

How much? How are you going to tell if the timing belt etc. is fresh? Be careful of heavily modified cars. Why is he selling it? How are the control arms etc. Rattle over small bumps? Make sure the heater blows very hot. AC pulley is not a huge worry and it could be the tensioner.

Just as Huskerbob said, it could be the serpentine belt tensioner, which was making crazy noise, so i replaced it and now the engine is quiet and purring like a kitten.

Here is a small clip of that tensioner in the front of the engine, it tightens the AC and Power steering belts.

Right, nothing worse than bad belt tensioners. I replaced both of mine and all the belts. Very quiet and smmoth by comparison to the old creaky ones.

You guys are so awesome, thank you for the replies!

The car is listed for $4,000 by the private seller.. I hope I can get it a bit lower.
He is selling it due to having surgery recently and needing the cash.

I wouldn't go anything over 3500, and would really want to get it for less than 3000

I paid $3500 for my un-modified A4 1.8l turbo a year ago. I have spent about $1500 on it and I believe I have it as close to perfect as one can make a 14 year old car.

Be prepared. to spend a few bucks. Have fun.

You never listed the mileage.

I did list the mileage, 120 ;-)

Anyways, since I know the anticipation has gotten the best of y'all, I am sad to report that the car WAS COMPLETELY DIFFERENT FROM THE PICTURES! Sigh, it was terrible.

Oh well, back to craigslist.. I may go see a quattro tomorrow.
