Also, speaking of license plate lights..

I just noticed the other day that one of mine is dead. Did a little poking around, switched the bulbs, checked with a multimeter, and it seems the socket for the passenger's side license plate light is dead. Upon closer inspection this doesn't surprise me, it looks like the little foam seal that goes around the plastic lens had deteriorated to the point of no longer working, water and junk got in under the lens and the wiring is all corroded. Does anyone know if there's any better access to this wiring than through the tiny little hole where the bulb goes? (like maybe through the inside of the trunk lid?) Once i cut out and replace the bad wiring i'll be doing the LED bulb swap as well.

Mine did the same thing and the bulb was intermittent. To fix it for the time being I hit the contacts with electrical contact cleaner and a scotchbrite pad, bent the contact points a little to tighten the connections, and it's worked since. Maybe that'll at least get yours working until the swap.

I'll have to try the contact cleaner. I tried to get in there with some sand paper to shine up the contacts but my fat fingers made it difficult lol. i may get in there today and see if i can clean it up a little more.

LED plate bulbs FTW!

Make sure you get them long enough. The first time I did the swap, they were a little short. Basically, it's better to get longer ones than short ones.

Well I'll be addressing the pcv problem along with the valve cover gasket and prolly the cam seals if they are shot. I hope things get better for me so I can throw some lowering springs on and maybe some RS6 rims .
