Default 04 A4 problems started then would die and now doesn't crank

My sister lives in Colorado and called in a panic. She picked up a 04 A4 1.8l turbo 6spd quattro a few months ago and she is stuck at work because the car would not run.

She told me that the service engine light came on and said it needed to be serviced in 200miles then 100miles and then it would start and die immideatly. She kept on trying to start it and I had her check the fuses (she said they are all good). Then her fiance thought that it might be the battery so they hooked up the jumper cables and now it wont even crank over.

Has anyone ever run into this or heard about this happening or know where I can find the manual or tbs on her car

Thanks in advance
Phil

Have you tried disconnecting the battery and waiting a minute or two, then reconnecting it? This will reset the computer.

I noticed that I never replied to this thread after I figured it out. The fuel pump died (@ 40K miles). And the battery was weak so she killed the battery by cranking it over.

Hope she also replaced the fuel filter.

Yup, replaced the filter and at about 45k miles had to replace the vehicle speed sensor.
