Does anyone know how to tell if the AC compressor is going bad... I know if it sounds like the clutch is stripping out and grinding with the ac on but that is pretty obvious. What years are most common with the CVT problems AC compressor problems ect. Is the 02 the scariest year to own being it is the first b6 year? Thanks

yeah avoid CVT...theres a bunch of threads in here you can read about them.im not sure if there was a particularly "good" or "bad" year for them as i am under the impression theyre all trash.

as for the sport package-they dont ALL have painted lower moldings (for example, mine doesnt). that may have been an s-line package but not 100% on that. they can be identified by the nicer rims (17" 5 spoke stock) and lowered suspension

If you're gonna get 1.8T, be sure to look for a 6 Speed. 5 Speed is not much fun on acceleration since it has to stay in the 1st gear for really high RPM for large difference from 1st to 2nd.
6 Speed also come with a bit more power on stock too.

Also, the 5 speed is turning 3300 RPM or so if you're cruising on the highway @ 70MPH - the 6 just has to be better for fuel economy. (I'm not *displeased* with my 5 speed, but given the choice, I'd swap it for a 6 in a heartbeat.)

yeah i have the sport package on my '02 a4 1.8t quattro and it's definitely a lot lower to the ground that other B6's I have seen. A lot of my friends asked me if I lowered it.
